25 Years of Lincoln Highway Days Giving Back to the Community

Lincoln Highway Days fundraising celebration happens each year because of your support. The citizens of Nevada provide the volunteer hours and generous monetary donations.  From the original idea of celebrating the bridge opening on Lincoln Highway in 1983, the LHD celebration has woven itself into the fabric of our community.  This annual event supports many special projects like the purchase Christmas lights we enjoy every year and the purchase of the Lincoln Highway monuments that welcome visitors to our city. The event raises money for a large number of community projects and for the support of many local groups plus celebrates the end of summer.

The tradition of the Lincoln Highway Days Celebration continues because of the citizens of Nevada.  It is the many volunteers and community groups that work though the year to put on this successful fundraising event for all to enjoy.

As a charitable community organization Lincoln Highway Days Committee is formed anew each year in November. It begins with the election of officers and board members. Then committees are formed to help plan and execute the many events everyone enjoys.  The committees organize an army of volunteers to ensure the success of yet another Lincoln Highway Days fundraising celebration.  Proudly, the fundraising event has grown over 25 years through the efforts of a large number of individuals. The Lincoln Highway Days celebration is host to the largest parade in Story County, multiple entertainment stages, a world-class rodeo, and so much more!  The Lincoln Highway Days Celebration is an event that Nevada citizens are proud of.  The great news is that next year will be better than before.  Each year brings new people and fresh ideas to this charitable organization.  The Lincoln Highway Days committee is consistently seeking new membership and new ideas.

The efforts for next year’s fundraising celebration begin after the new board forms in November.  Because of the nature of this annual event and the coordination required with local government, other community organizations, and vendors, many decisions are made before the end of the current year.  The event is budgeted very carefully and funds raised are used thoughtfully.

Like all celebrations and charitable organizations fundraising efforts are executed.  As other community organizations can express, Nevada area businesses are very generous. The LHD committee appreciates the many years of annual support that has ensured the giving back to all the worthwhile Nevada community groups, projects, and programs.
