The Lincoln Highway Days board members, officers and the committees are so excited about our August, 2010 "27th" celebration. The three day event takes lots of fun ideas, phone calls and laboring hours to prepare such a huge celebration in Story County on the State Highway Lincoln Corridor.

Come to Nevada, Iowa and spend the whole weekend with your family and friends. Friday night Aug. 27, 2010 starts the activities. Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, we are celebrating with fun on the Story County 4-H grounds. The Smiths carnival is making their 22nd appearance this year. They will be setting up to give the kids a fun filled ride Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Lincoln Highway Days Rodeo is so exciting with the cowboys riding the bulls and their horses. Come and enjoy various delicious food on the walkway food court. The Crafters have been busy making all kinds of different crafts for everyone to come and enjoy walking through the building and shopping. The Varied Industry building is set up with various organizations who wish the public to come and visit. The Church organizations and community people to are happy to show their different items of interest. The Marijo Starnes Dance Studio will be performing different times of the day on Saturday. Don't miss walking through the building. Located on the grass to the south of the Carnival is the Flea Market, check it out maybe the vendors have something you wish to buy.

Soon the evening will come alive with dance for the Teen Dance in the Dueland building and the adult dance will entertain the adults with live music and refreshments. Bring your family and your friends to enjoy the food and entertainment on the Story County 4-H grounds.

The weekend fun has just begun. Saturday morning Aug. 28, 2010, starts with one of the biggest parades in Story County. Our National Guard salutes the spectators and Honors our Soldiers at War. Our parade starts on 15th Street and travels west to lst Street. Everyone comes to watch and enjoys the morning sitting in their lawn chairs along the route on Lincoln Highway. The kids wait anxiously to catch the candy that the businesses throw to the crowd along the way. The businesses and their employees enjoy preparing their floats to be in the parade and follow the Fire Department Engines from Nevada and our surrounding towns. There is a lot of time and preparation to put together floats and don't forget the Farm machinery. Once the parade is over the rest of the fun has just begun down at the Story County 4-H grounds located on lst Street and I. Avenue Nevada, Iowa.

Klassy Kruisers and their members driving their Old Antique Cars to setup on the grass on Meadow Lane, the south side of the Indian creek and the Story County 4-H grounds. The time is 10:30 a.m. and the judging starts around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010. This is a wonderful time to look at the old cars and reminiscing about driving around town in the old times. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the music.

Everyone take a walk by the Antique Tractors parked on the grass by the Klassy Kruisers cars. The old John Deeres, Farmalls and Olivers are refurbished and actually operate.

Ten vendors will be on hand to satisfy your hunger. Food stands will be located by the Rodeo Arena. They are planning a menu of delicious food. We welcome all of you to come and visit and sit at the picnic tables and enjoy everyone walking around and enjoying the fun filled weekend.

Are you interested in Bar-B-Qing? The Nevada Kiwanis Club will have even more contestants this year grilling their favorite kind of meat. The judges will then taste and judge the contestant on their performance in preparing fine tasting meat on Saturday. This event will have it's own contained area located by the Community building lst Street and I. Avenue Nevada, Iowa.

Free Entertainment on the grounds at the Shade Tree Stage and plenty of a variety of food to eat. We are currently looking for a new organization to help coordinate the exciting entertainment. Bring the baby of the family for the Lincoln Highway Day's Baby contest, check the schedule for the time. Enjoy the Food also sitting at the picnic tables. Saturday night, once again is the Teen Dance, just in case you missed Friday night.. Hey, Kids the carnival is at our celebration all three days. Remember unlimited ride wristbands are available at a special price on Sunday!

Sunday Aug. 30, 2009, is the grand day for walking through the Craft building and the Varied Industry building and the Flea Market. Your last day for tasting the fine food on the food court. Just come and enjoy all the different things to see and all your friends and especially the fun in Nevada, Iowa and our "27th" year of celebrating.
